Named for the fragrant orange groves that dotted the landscape in the late 1800s, Orange Park is a bustling suburb that lies west of the St. Johns River, at the northeast tip of Clay County. Orange Park offers a variety of rental choices, ranging from apartments to town homes to single-family homes. Many military families call Orange Park home, with Jacksonville’s Naval Air Station (NAS Jacksonville) located just north of I-295 on Roosevelt Boulevard. Because Orange Park serves as a “gateway” to surrounding areas, many residents allow extra time for morning and evening commutes.

Orange Park offers stunning river views, particularly from historic sites including the Winterbourne Inn and Club Continental. Built in 1923, Club Continental exudes Old World charm with Mediterranean architectural details, sparkling water fountains and ponds, immaculately manicured grounds, and ivy-covered walls. The enchanting club hosts special events and private parties and has a number of guest suites on the property.

The Orange Park Mall offers a variety of shopping options, with retailers including Belk, Dillard’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, JCPenney, and Sears. Everyday mainstays such as Publix, Target, and Wal-Mart are easily accessible. For a bite out, locals frequent restaurants including La Nopalera, Gator’s Dockside, and The Hilltop Club.

Five miles southwest of Orange Park is Jennings State Forest, a popular site for picnicking, swimming, hiking, and horseback riding. Wildlife including otter, alligator, wild turkeys, and wading birds reside in the state forest’s more than 15 unique biological communities. The Cecil Recreation Complex on Normandy Boulevard houses a fitness center, basketball gymnasium, indoor pool and equestrian center. Within the complex is The Jacksonville Equestrian Center, a 4,000-seat indoor arena that hosts concerts, events, festivals and rodeos. The Cecil Commerce Center is being developed to attract and retain industrial, manufacturing, and distribution businesses.
